3D Acorn Lab Co-ordinator Intern with Acorn Enterprise

Location: Fife

£7.65 per hour. Part-time, 20 hours per week for 12 weeks

Start date: 27 October

Acorn Enterprise is an organisation dedicated to growing Fife’s start-up business community.

They offer a limited number of selected new business owners, who they call “Acorns”, a place on the free 20 week Business Accelerator Programme to help them grow and thrive together. They accelerate progress, business skills & networks by offering the Acorns: free co-working office space, a structured weekly seminar programme, a business mentor and much more.

Acorn Enterprise has some very ambitious plans to increasing revenue by promoting & managing our new “3D Acorn Lab” as part of their growth strategy.

A unique opportunity has arisen to join the Acorn team as a 3D Acorn Lab Intern. You will be responsible for helping to set-up and manage our new 3D Acorn Lab. This will have, among other things, a 3D printer, which will allow rapid prototyping, a lathe and a drill press.

You will report to the Directors of the business and will be given a level of freedom to carry out this role. You will have the chance to develop the strategy with colleagues, put a plan in place and work on the implementation of the plan. You will work from our HQ in the co-working space at the Rosyth Business Centre (Fife).

This unique experience will allow you to gain hands on experience of running & marketing our 3D Acorn Lab which will enhance your CV. You’ll also be introduced to members of the local business community which will increase the number of connections you have. You will be given freedom to take ownership of a real life project which will allow you to apply the theory you have learnt in the classroom.

Requirements

A highly organised individual, you will be educated to degree level with a background in business management, PR or marketing. Previous experience of using a 3D printer and other “rapid prototyping tools” would be highly beneficial.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn and integrate into a thriving team. You will be able to work unsupervised, on your own initiative and to tight deadlines. You should also possess a strong attention to detail.

You will have an understanding of social media platform and be an active user of Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. An excellent communicator, you will be good at working with others, building relationships and coordinating other team members when necessary.
