Are you an all-rounder?
Up for a challenge within a small, growing, social organisation?
We welcome applications from graduates of any age, degree background and experience.
Adopt an Intern (AAI) is a not-for-profit company specialising in the facilitation of paid internships for unemployed and underemployed graduates. We work with employers from all sectors across the UK, and have placed over 1350 graduates into internship opportunities from Economic Policy to Glass Blowing.
We have two groups of customers: employers and applicants. This dual-focus requires a careful balance in the use of our resources, which we achieve by listening carefully to the needs of those customers and responding in an agile and flexible manner. We are currently at an important point in the company’s lifecycle where we need to leverage our success to date and build a sustainable platform for growth.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and creative graduate to apply their skills in a multidimensional role, with key deliverables which will underpin the organisation’s development strategy.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work across the Business Development and Operations sides of AAI, and your duties will be varied, including such tasks as:
• Supporting the sales process by assisting in the creation of leads, proposals and presentations
• Maintaining, growing and effectively utilising our business database to build on our relations with clients and business partners
• Identifying opportunities for business growth
• Attending business events and acting as an Ambassador for AAI
• Collating and maintaining a library of our business resources (eg sales processes and case studies)
• Contributing to the creation of new content for the website, social media, and other communication outlets in line with the marketing strategy
• Disseminating promotional content to all stakeholders through various channels
• Uploading content to a variety of web platforms
• Handling graduate enquiries
• Seeking feedback from employers and graduates, and securing testimonials for promotional use
• Assisting with general business admin, including meeting, event and travel organisation, and participating in team, client and board meetings (occasional minute-taking).
This is a great opportunity to join a small yet dynamic team where ideas for improvement are always welcome, and in which your skills and abilities will be put to good use. Adopt an Intern are a very hands-on team in which each member is encouraged to contribute and make their mark. We like curiosity about how things work and might work better, and we are proud to be an organisation that contributes to economic and personal growth wherever we work. Working with AAI you will be helped to develop new skills and knowledge vital to both your professional development and the future of the company.
There is real potential for the right person to grow into further roles as their employment with AAI progresses. We believe that this is the best way to grow talent and to demonstrate to other businesses we work with, that they can successfully do this too. Increased responsibilities would be rewarded appropriately.
You may apply whatever your degree background as long as you can prove you have the skills to do the job. A business management or marketing background would be useful. You’ll be analysing current factors and contributing ideas to our strategy for business growth.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, well-organised, have a strong work ethic and a high level of attention to detail. We’re looking for a confident written and verbal communicator. You'll enjoy speaking to people in person and on the phone, and you will be a good listener, able to gather information from others to inform and underpin your arguments.
Candidates must have the ability to manage their own workload and respond quickly to a range of differing demands. You must be happy to work from home on your own, as well as with other members of the team at regular face-to-face meet-ups. You will need access to your own computer and mobile phone. Some flexibility around working hours would be advantageous, as occasional evening attendance at events will be expected.
If you can demonstrate an interest in the workings of the backend of social media sites and websites, this would be advantageous.
Closing date for applications is 21 July 2017, 12 noon.
Interviews will be held in Edinburgh on 26 July 2017.
Interviews will be held as soon as possible, potentially as soon as 23 July. We would like an immediate start.
