About the Company

The Ally Bally Bee Project is the Edinburgh-based social enterprise behind the world's first and only personalised children's book about dementia. Nominated for a Scottish Social Enterprise Award and with sponsors and customers across the globe, the project is run by Matthew Adams – a digital marketing professional with more than seven years of experience working for some of the UK’s biggest charities. He has applied his extensive project management and marketing skills to The Ally Bally Bee Project in order to build the website, develop a successful social media and email marketing strategy, manage the project and team members (illustrator and author), generate press, raise funds and engage with various audience groups.

More information about the project, the team, their values and their vision can be found on their website.

The Role

The project is now seeking to hire a digital marketing intern. This is a hugely exciting role that is fully flexible and extremely varied. Tasks will include:

• Email, social media, content and PR marketing
• Website management
• SEO and social media advertising
• Press and blogger outreach
• Data and statistical analysis (Google analytics and email data)
• Print marketing
• Design and creative work
• Customer support

We’re looking not just for an intern, but for someone to become a permanent part of the team and the project. The nature of the role can be tailored to suit your interests and specialist skillset of the successful candidate.

Requirements

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding and experience of digital marketing techniques and the use of Social Media in the workplace. You will have excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.  You should demonstrate your ability to prioritise and achieve deadlines. You should be well motivated with the ability to work flexibly as part of a small team.

This is a hugely exciting role that is fully flexible and extremely varied. But the main skills required are:

- Digital skills
- Comms and marketing skills
- Creative skills (photo/video editing)

There is a huge opportunity to learn and develop but the main focus is to increase our digital footprint, brand awareness, sales and engagement so a candidate who has experience in a similar role or project will be highly desirable. The creative skills we seek are less important than the comms and marketing skills, but having the whole package will, of course, be a big plus.

*This role is advertised on a self-employed basis. Please note that you will be invoicing as a freelance consultant. This is a very simple, uncomplicated process. You will also be advised to notify HMRC that you have carried out work on a self-employed basis if you have not already done so.  Please note, students in Scotland on a Tier 4 Visa are not permitted to be self-employed and should therefore not apply for this role.
