"The best part of the internship was that it was my way into one of the best-recognised employers in the world. It is a huge organisation, which has an excellent culture, and this internship gave me the opportunity to work here."
University - Glasgow Caledonian University
Qualification - Undergraduate in Business Management
Job hunting experience - In general, I found job hunting very hard. I had recently returned from travelling and I came back at the wrong time – job hunting in January is soul-destroying! The application process which Adopt an Intern uses is very simple and makes it easier to get into very reputable organisations, such as Diageo. Adopt an Intern was very quick at responding to me and, as a whole, the experience was very positive.
Internship - Market Service Owner Intern at Diageo
Roles and responsibilities - My internship was treated as a full-time role in the team, and as such, I was the replacement for a full-time member who left for another role in the organisation. Working in Diageo’s International Supply Centre I managed logistics between Scotland and major Western European markets. I had the opportunity to expose myself to other markets in Europe and North America. The best part of the internship was that it was my way into one of the best-recognised employers in the world. It is a huge organisation, which has an excellent culture, and this internship gave me the opportunity to work here.
Where are you now? - I am still working for Diageo and loving every minute of it! I was offered a full time contract 4-months before my internship was up, and I think that shows the trust Diageo puts in their employees. Having always wanted to work within logistics, this is the ideal career path for me. Furthermore, there are major supply chain projects going on at Diageo that I have the chance to be involved in which can only enhance my future career.
