Absolute Escapes is an ambitious and specialist tour operator, offering imaginative and unique travel experiences to clients from around the world. Established in Edinburgh in 2004 they specialise in walking holidays on long distance trails in the UK & Ireland and tailor-made travel in Scotland.
£15,000 p/a, 40 hours per week for 6 months (1 February – 31 July 2014) including 20 days annual holiday and 8 Public Holidays pro-rata.

As part of their continued growth plans Absolute Escapes are seeking to recruit an Operations Assistant intern, which would suit a current under-graduate or recent graduate looking to gain some experience in the travel industry. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic and professional individuals who are passionate about travel and the outdoors.
The role will play an integral part in delivering all aspects of the walking holidays and tailor-made tours that Absolute Escapes provide for their UK and international clients. You will be involved in every aspect of the operational side of the business and will assist in exceeding customers’ expectations and in the future success of Absolute Escapes.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
• Managing the entire customer experience from enquiry through to post trip follow-up
• Making reservations with accommodation, transport and other service providers
• Ensuring bookings are efficiently processed and client requests are met
• Dealing with client issues arising before, during and after their trip
• Providing general administrative support to all business functions and ad hoc duties to assist in the running of the office
The ideal candidate will be a real people person who loves interacting with a variety of people on a daily basis and enjoys working as part of a team. They will also have a genuine passion for walking and the outdoors and knowledge of Scotland as a tourism destination.
You should be highly organised with excellent attention to detail. Outstanding people skills are required, as you will be working with a wide range of partners and suppliers in the tourism industry. You should have a strong commitment to excellent customer service, great selling and negotiation skills and the drive and motivation necessary to work on your own initiative, in a small entrepreneurial business.
Strong written and verbal communication skills plus the ability to deal clearly and professionally with the general public by telephone and email are essential. Candidates should have excellent computer skills including fluency in MS Word, Excel and the Internet. Strong problem solving skills plus the ability to think outside the box will be required. Experience of working in the travel industry would be an advantage but is not essential.
