The International Education & Innovation team is a standalone Business Unit within C&W that specialises in Education business consultancy. The team deals with: business and estate planning for universities and international education ventures that are looking to expand their operations within the UK and internationally; and student residential accommodation (e.g. demand due diligence and market analysis for investors in this sector).

The International Education & Innovation Business Unit is currently looking for a Project Support Assistant to join its team in Manchester. The team is comprised of multi-disciplinary sector specialists, with backgrounds in economics, town planning, social research, teaching and academia. The work in Manchester revolves primarily around student residential accommodation, but there is scope for the right candidate to be involved in other aspects of the business as well.

The Role

This role will focus on market research and business development opportunities within the UK and Europe.

You will be responsible for:
• researching student residential markets
• using Excel in a proficient manner to manage and organise information
• monitoring the progress of research projects
• analysing and interpreting data to identify patterns and solutions
• helping to formulate proposals
• writing detailed reports and presenting results
• providing ad-hoc business support (e.g. planning events, helping to develop marketing material, providing project management support)

This exclusive position is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable practical experience in market research and client account management. Within this role you will develop and utilise business development skills, and have the opportunity to expand your professional network, whilst empowering an established national real estate organisation.

There is enormous potential for professional progression for the right candidate. An extension of the contract after the internship placement is expected, with the promotion to the position of Assistant Consultant for the right candidate following their business development efforts.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree or postgraduate level in any background with an interest in education, the economy and cities, and a demonstrable ability in secondary market research.

You will be a confident self-starter with the ability to work independently. You must be comfortable using your own initiative to make decisions and be able to demonstrate good judgement. You should have excellent analytical and numeracy skills as well as an enquiring and adventurous mind.

You will be IT literate, especially Microsoft Excel, and an effective communicator with a keen eye for detail. A demonstrable interest in the education/student residential sector is desirable but not essential.
