Studio Assistant with Caroline Finlay

About the company 
Sole trader, Caroline Finlay creates small batch contemporary, handmade silver and enamel jewellery from her studio for retail in shops, galleries, online, fairs and exhibitions. Based at the newly opened studios within the old fire station in Dunfermline, Caroline runs jewellery classes and offers mentoring and benches to recent graduates which has been supported by Creative Scotland Lottery funding. 
 
The Role 
Working with Caroline, the purpose of the role is to assist in the making process and preparation of her contemporary practice; making silver jewellery using traditional hand techniques such as saw piercing, filing, soldering, drilling, raising, forming, making findings, preparing pieces for enamelling, preparation for and selling at fairs, assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of essential tools, assisting in social media and website updates, newsletters and emails, cataloguing and organising stock. 
 
Requirements 
The ideal candidate will be a creative graduate with a passion for jewellery and the making process.  They will also require excellent IT, photo editing and social media skills. You will have an understanding of marketing techniques and how to develop brand awareness.  You will be creatively-minded with an eye for excellence across all mediums.  
 
The successful intern will be proactive, motivated and up for a new challenge.   

This role is on a self-employed basis. Please note that you will be invoicing Adopt an Intern as a freelance consultant. This is a very simple, uncomplicated process. You will also be advised to register as self-employed with HMRC if you have not already registered. Please note, students in Scotland on a Tier 4 Visa are not permitted to be self-employed and should therefore not apply for this role.
