Artists' Assistant with NADFLY


Location: Merchant City, Glasgow
£8.25 per hour
Part-time, 240 hours over 12 weeks
Start date: 12 June 2016


The company
NADFLY is an artist studio specialising in large-scale public and participatory art. We work across Scotland and internationally, producing some of the most innovative projects in our sector. A resourceful and motivated intern will gain real industry exposure and experience, and the role is particularly suitable for a person who intends to develop an artistic practice or work for an arts organisation.


The role
NADFLY are looking for an enthusiastic intern to join the team. Duties will include:
• Assisting the artists in their daily work
• Maintaining an organised and tidy studio
• Undertaking research and operational tasks
• Engaging with the public and partners across projects


The ideal candidate will be practical, friendly with a related qualification(s) in art, design and/or architecture. Applications are open to candidates with relevant skills and experience.


Desirable skills:
• entrepreneurial and self-motivated
• highly productive and efficient when under pressure
• good communicator and able to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
• high standard of writing from formal to friendly
• confident with numbers, including budgets, calculations etc.
• professional in demeanour and attitude


Advantageous experience:
• involvement in setting up events, side-projects, and creative endeavours
• design knowledge and experience with Adobe Suite
• art production skills and practical aptitude
• developed knowledge of contemporary art and artists
