The Role

Keep Scotland Beautiful has an exciting internship opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic individual with strong communication skills to join their Stirling-based team. It will provide an opportunity for you to play a key role in supporting their Communications Plan and the organisation’s communications activity across all areas of the charity. You will engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, support campaigns and projects, create quality content for the website and social media channels, and be involved in collating and sharing information about Keep Scotland Beautiful’s work.

Additionally, you will be updating the charity’s website using a content management system, analysing the success of their social media, and assisting a busy team with daily communications and marketing tasks.

Main areas and objectives of the role include:

• Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Communications Plan across the charity, with particular emphasis on creating content for the website and social media channels
• Accurately maintain databases of activity and analytics to monitor the success of our online communications
• Assist with the creative development of materials, activities and interventions by originating and researching ideas
• Support on-the-ground delivery of activities such as interventions and events
• Maintain a record of all public enquiries made to campaigns and projects, drafting responses in a timely manner and escalating enquiries requiring action as appropriate
• Support the development and implementation of other communications projects as and when required
• Familiarise yourself with and adhere to all internal policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with the company’s Health and Safety policy
• Observe the company’s Equal Opportunities Policy
• Undertake such work as may be determined from time to time up to or on a level commensurate with the main responsibilities of the post

You will possess a high level of communication skills, both written and verbally, and have an understanding of the environmental sector and the role of environmental organisations across Scotland. You will be computer literate and have experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Experience of creating engaging content for different audiences and communications channels, an interest in using social media platforms (such as Hootsuite), and experience of using website content management systems is essential.
