About the Company

She is Fierce is an offbeat magazine for femmes who are looking for something a little different from the world.

With a focus on creativity, culture and collaboration, we are dedicated to empowering women with stories of accomplishment and a massive injection of inspiration.

We work as a collective, publishing the work of creative women. We believe the mainstream media are doing women no favours, and we are here to offer women an alternative to celeb gossip, makeup and mass produced garb.

Each of our issues are collaborative and fully funded via the wonderful people that believe in us and pre-order. We are also launching our first big event on 30 September 2017, The Noisy Girls Club which will bring our pages to life in the form of workshops, talks, performance, music, food and markets to help us raise funds for our next print run.

More information about the vision and values of the magazine can be found on their website.

The Role

We're seeking a confident person who can generate sales and sponsorship income by making good honest connections with good and honest companies. We're not looking for the hard sell or to make squillions of pounds, we want to create relationships with companies who can support our endeavours while we support theirs.

The main focus will be on gaining sponsorship and advertising for the magazine and events as well as reaching out to new retailers to encourage them to stock us. Reporting to the magazine’s founder and Editor, your main tasks will be:

• strategy development (marketing/ad sales) and implementing well
• contacting potential advertisers/sponsors/retailers
• following up leads
• collating information into excel
• generating new ideas

However the role will remain varied, involving marketing, content creation and the creative stuff too.

The role is home-based, with regular face-to-face meetings. You will need access to your own phone and computer.

This exclusive 3-month internship is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable practical experience in marketing, advertising and client relationship management.
Within this role you will develop and utilise business development skills, and have the opportunity to expand your professional network, whilst empowering a dynamic and innovative magazine brand.

This role is advertised on a self-employed basis. Please note that you will be invoicing as a freelance consultant. This is a very simple, uncomplicated process. You will also be advised to notify HMRC that you have carried out work on a self-employed basis if you have not already done so.  Please note, students in Scotland on a Tier 4 Visa are not permitted to be self-employed and should therefore not apply for this role.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate with a background such as marketing, advertising or pr/comms who is keen to build on their existing skills through work in the publishing field. Applications from those with a passion for the creative industries and ideally an interest in printed magazines are particularly welcome.

A pleasant and confident telephone manner is essential, along with the ability to generate and follow up leads.  You should be able to demonstrate a highly organised working style as well as a willingness to take the initiative.  You will be self-motivated, determined and resilient.

A pleasant (and not too formal!) writing style is very important, as is a genuine interest in the She is Fierce project.

The ability to use InDesign/Photoshop would be advantageous but is not essential.

Closing date for applications is 14 September 2017, 12 noon.
Interviews will be held in Edinburgh on 21 September 2017.

Please submit a CV and brief covering letter through the AAI online application form on our website. All applications must be submitted by noon on the closing date. State a. your availability and b. relevant information on your skills/experience pertaining to the job spec. We do NOT accept email applications unless otherwise stated.

Please confirm your eligibility to work in the UK.
