The Royal Scottish Geographical Society is a charity that promotes an understanding of the natural environment and human societies through education, dialogue and a vibrant activities programme. The RSGS is looking for a graduate intern to join the team as an Events and Media Assistant.
Location: Perth-based with occasional travel
£ 7.85 per hour. 20 hours a week for 12 weeks.
January 2015 start
As an Events and Media Assistant you will be involved in:
• helping to organise a series of different small events for public and private audiences; for example, a Geography Day for RSGS members and volunteers, an evening reception for special guests, a public talk with a high-profile speaker
• attending and supporting these events, and helping to maximise pre- and post-event publicity as appropriate
• supporting media work in general, including by developing new contacts
• helping to raise the RSGS’s overall profile, and the level of public understanding of the work that the charity does, among different audiences (individuals and organisations)
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with a background in events management, marketing, PR or geography. Previous experience of managing and promoting events would be highly beneficial.
You will be well organised, good at planning and with a high attention to detail. It is important that you are a strong team player who is good at problem-solving and uses their own initiative. The successful intern will be personable, articulate and enthusiastic.
