Ann Brooks has been a self-employed ceramic artist since 1976 and currently runs The Old Stable Studio, a small teaching studio in Ayrshire.
Location: Fairlie, near Largs. North Ayrshire
£7.65 per hour, 20 hours per week for 3 months. There is the possibility that this role will become permanent with longer hours.
The Old Stable Studio is currently looking for a graduate intern to join the team for 20 hours per week.
Working from Ann’s studio in Ayrshire, the successful candidate will carry out a variety of tasks including:
- Clay preparation
- Class demo and teaching
- Glaze making
- Kiln loading
- Social media
- Studio promotion
- End of term open studio event
There will be ample opportunity for the successful candidate to produce their own work using any materials and equipment in the studio.
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level with a background in ceramics; this can be academic or practical however, you must be a proficient thrower and hand builder.
A confident communicator you will be comfortable teaching basic methods to non-vocational students who come to the studio for a two hour class. The ability to use social media to promote a product or service, plus an understanding of basic marketing and promotional strategies will be required.
Previous studio experience is essential for this role. Candidates with the desire to run their own studios will particularly thrive in this role.
