Insights Intern with MDB 





Location: Edinburgh 
£18,000 per year 
Full-time, for 12 weeks initially

About the Company 
Money Dashboard is an awesome tech company located in the heart of Scotland’s financial tech scene with the aim to help people understand their financial situation and become better with money.  Through the Insights team, we build a range of UK consumer spend data products to help external clients get a better understanding of performance across of a whole host of commercial sectors - from food, to fashion and technology. We have a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic intern to be at the heart of this service and begin their career in the rapidly growing data industry. 
The Role 
Money Dashboard is an incredibly friendly and fast-paced environment . We have a small team with a strong focus on supporting each other.  You will get exposure across all the teams as well as get dragged into the odd board game or table football match.  Your main duties as an Insights Intern will include: 
• Building and distributing weekly data-based products  
• Create fortnightly commentary on the top reported merchants by MDB Insights  
• Ad-hoc data analysis based on requests from both internal and external stakeholders  
• Assisting with the Insights Analyst on refining, automating and streamlining the data product range 
The ideal candidate will have strong statistical and numerical skills and knowledge of Excel, including doing lookups and pivot tables.  You need to be able to engage with clients, answering questions about the data and be willing to learn the technologies needed, including SQL Server querying and some basic VBA programming.  You should be curious about data and willing to dive into and understand the Money Dashboard dataset and you should also have an interest in commercial performance of public companies. 
A good eye for detail and a keen willingness to learn are all that you need to get started with us.  If you have had experience with VBA macro programming and SQL Server - all the better!  If not, don't worry - you'll get a helping hand on these from our friendly team in true start-up style.  Most importantly, you will be keenly curious about the data industry, be comfortable communicating your work to internal and external stakeholders and have a pragmatic, flexible approach to your work.
