The International Education & Innovation team is a standalone Business Unit within C&W that specialises in Education consultancy. The team deals with: market entry strategy and business planning for universities and international schools that are looking to expand their operations in the UK and internationally; student residential accommodation (e.g. demand due diligence and market analysis for investors in this sector); and business and estates strategies (e.g. working with universities to analyse and develop their estate and on science parks and innovation centres).

C&W’s Education team are currently looking for a Market Research intern to support their Edinburgh office. The team is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of sector specialists, with backgrounds in economics, town planning, social research, teaching and academia.

The Role

This market research role will focus on the international university and schools market (mainly in China) and business and estates issues in UK universities.

You will be responsible for:
• researching a sector topic relevant to either the international school markets, science parks or university estates
• using Excel in a proficient manner to manage, organise and present information and data
• analysing and interpreting data to identify patterns and solutions
• monitoring the progress of research projects
• writing detailed reports and presenting results
• providing ad-hoc business support (e.g. planning events, helping to develop marketing material, providing project management support)


The ideal candidate will be educated to degree or postgraduate level in any background with an interest in education, the economy and cities, and a demonstrable ability in secondary market research.

You will be a confident self-starter with the ability to work independently. You must be comfortable using your own initiative to make decisions and be able to demonstrate good judgement. You should have excellent analytical and numeracy skills as well as an enquiring and adventurous mind.

You will be IT literate, especially Microsoft Excel, and an effective communicator with a keen eye for detail.
A second language in one of Cushman & Wakefield’s key markets (e.g. Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi or Sinhalese) would be desirable, but not essential.
