The Church of Scotland is one of the largest organisations in the country. We have over 400,000 members, with more regularly involved in local congregations and our work. Within the organisation, we have around 800 ministers serving in parishes and chaplaincies, supported by more than 1500 professional and administrative staff. Most of our parishes are in Scotland, but there are also churches in England, Europe and overseas.

About the role
Do you have a flair for marketing and organisation? The largest adult voluntary movement in Scotland, the Church of Scotland Guild, needs your help!
The Guild’s three-year action plan looks at how we can communicate the message of the Guild in exciting, innovative ways. We’re looking at improving branding and perceptions both amongst members and also with those outside of the Guild.
We’re looking for a creative, sparky person to join the team as Marketing & Events Intern, assisting with stocking the Guild shop, supporting key Guild events and helping to get the word out about the Guild.
Our ideal candidate would enjoy learning new skills and be confident in tackling big projects. As an intern you will get to work with a huge variety of people, both staff and Guild office-bearers, while working on real projects that will help us grow.
What You Will Learn:
• How to design and order merchandise that maximises brand awareness.
• Event management for a large event, hosting 2000 people in Dundee’s Caird Hall.
• How to engage with multiple event stakeholders, guests and members.
• Social media management, especially Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
• How to support large meetings and small conferences within the Church of Scotland offices.
Assisting the Leadership Team, you’ll gain real insight into the running of a very large, voluntary movement within the Church of Scotland. There are also plenty of additional opportunities in related projects.
The ideal candidate will be outgoing and enthusiastic, with the capacity to throw themselves into a challenge.
You should be able to demonstrate the following in your application, and/or at interview:
• An interest in marketing, events, and/or communications.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Office.
• That you are an organised person, with an intuition for prioritising.
An interest in / connection to the Church of Scotland / Guild would be an advantage.
While there will be an element of administrative work for the intern to assist with, we are fully committed to providing an interesting and worthwhile learning experience for our intern and will welcome you as part of the team!
