The Royal Society of Edinburgh is looking for a Policy Advice Officer to provide maternity cover support for its Policy Advice activities.
£27,559 per annum
Full-time, 35 hours per week until 7 October 2016

The purpose of this role is to support the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Policy Advice activities. Within this role your key tasks will be:
• Coordinating and producing responses to Government and Parliamentary consultations, and policy papers initiated by the RSE, and to support the delivery of any follow up activities. Follow up activities will include communicating and engaging with governments and parliamentarians.
• For evaluation purposes, Coordinating records of policy advice impact and activities, including tracking on-going issues.
• Providing secretariat services for the RSE Business Innovation Forum and supporting the delivery of its activities along with the Head of Policy Advice & Parliamentary Affairs.
• Undertaking desk based research and collating evidence and advice material.
• Providing general administrative support for the team.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate success in writing for a wide audience with the ability to produce clear and concise policy advice papers and reports. Working as a core member of a small Policy team, you will have an understanding of Scottish parliamentary and government process, including the civil service, and good experience of working with committees. You will be computer literate and a confident user of the Web, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work creatively and with initiative.
You will be a confident individual who has the ability to work using their own initiative and as part of a small team. You will have a good attention to detail and able to source information quickly and accurately across multiple platforms. Highly organised, you should have the ability to work across different topics and areas of work to a high standard. Event organisation skills would be beneficial but are not essential.
