About the Company 

Stirling Council's area lies at the very heart of Scotland. It covers 220,000 hectares from Tyndrum and Crianlarich in the southern highlands to the villages of Killearn and Strathblane in the south-west and the former mining villages of Plean, Fallin, and Cowie in the east. The 83,000 population splits 50:50 urban to rural, with the urban population centering around Stirling, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan. The council employs over 3,000 staff and the HR team are in place to ensure that the workforce is supported in the most effective ways possible.

The Role 

Stirling Council's Human Resources Service is looking to recruit a graduate project intern to join their HR team to work in support of the implementation of their new HR & Payroll system. This is an excellent learning opportunity for a graduate to gain experience within a busy public sector setting.   

Your main responsibilities will include: 

•Working closely with the Project manager to deliver the next phase of Stirling Council’s Midland HR & Payroll system implementation 
•Testing new processes for efficiency 
•Helping ensure that the tests are carried out appropriately and successfully  
•Working with the team to document new processes 
•Communicating the new processes across the wider Council 
•Addressing any other tasks that are required to be completed 


The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, possibly in Human Resource Management or Business Management. It is essential that you are organised and able to work to deadlines independently and as part of the team. You will be professional and discrete in dealing with confidential and sometimes sensitive/personal information.  

The following skills are essential: 

•A good knowledge of Microsoft Office 
•Analytical skills and the ability to apply analytical skills to a wide range of circumstances 
•Problem solving 
•Self-motivated to achieve shared goals and objectives 
•Proactive and able to use your initiative to get the job done 
•Clear and confident oral and written communication   

The following skills are desirable: 
•Knowledge and experience of HR and Payroll processes 
•Experience using HR and Payroll software 
•Experience of assisting on projects
