The Board have an immediate need to appoint a Quality Assurance Compliance Officer to cover sick leave. This role exists to provide a centralised compliance function for NLB ensuring compliance with Information legislation and the Financial Memorandum. The initial three-month contract may or may not be extended depending on circumstances at that time.
The postholder will fulfil a key function in the team and the main areas of responsibility will be to:
•Support the Risk & Improvement Manager with the development and enhancement of NLB’s Quality management System. In particular the transition to ISO 9001 2015.
•Coordinate and maintain NLB’s Integrated Audit Schedule to ensure ongoing delivery of the same and provide reporting as required.
•Act as NLB's focal point for Information Legislation affecting a Public Body, by providing internal advice and instruction to all areas including policy to ensure NLB’s awareness and compliance.
•Track DPA and FOI compliance providing reports, managing identified non-conformances and resolving issues arising to ensure understanding and how to comply throughout NLB.
•Review, revise and propose updated draft Data Protection, Freedom of Information and records management policies, including procedures to be submitted for board approval, ensuring they fit with current legislation and practice
•Design and deliver training and awareness courses on Data Protection and Freedom of Information (and other legal requirements) to ensure management and staff are aware of current legislation and their responsibilities.
•Co-ordinate, consult and respond to Freedom of Information requests made to NLB and ensure that the response is issued within the time period allowed in the Freedom of Information Act
•Co-ordinate NLB’s Driving Licence checking process annually, to ensure that all designated drivers remain compliant with corporate requirements.
The ideal candidate will be educated to a degree level. A thorough and current understanding of Business Management System ISO 9001, as well as Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation is essential. You will have demonstrable experience in delivering in these areas at an organisational level, making a significant contribution to planning and corporate governance.
A team player, you will have the ability to work proactively and flexibly, with attention to detail and a high standard of written and verbal communication. You will have well developed reporting and presentation skills, with the confidence to deliver complex information in a user-friendly manner. You will show commitment to completing tasks and building productive working relationships.
An ISEB DP qualification is desirable.
