As the only Atlassian Solution Partner in Scotland, we are seeing increased demand to deliver our services to local businesses. These include: the design and delivery of Atlassian software solutions to meet client needs; the development of new Marketplace apps for Jira and Confluence; training and support for end-users and administrators; managed services - the delivery and support of managed hosting solutions.

The Role

New Verve is in need of a full-time Systems Engineer to manage and maintain cloud infrastructure to support their daily operations. Primarily, you will be responsible for maintaining the availability and uptime of operational software and managed services for customers.

Your sound knowledge of technology will be vital across New Verve’s consulting and development teams, working to implement and execute integration paths as well as migration and deployment pipelines, whilst delivering the company’s internal DevOps culture.

With support from the Technical Lead, you will be responsible for:
• Setting up, maintaining, and continuously improving operational infrastructure in AWS
• Deploying and maintaining high-availability Atlassian software for internal operations and managed service customers (e.g. Jira and Confluence)
• Supporting the migration of Atlassian tooling across deployment models (e.g. self-hosted to Cloud, and vice-versa)
• Troubleshooting support issues for internal staff and customers within agreed SLAs
• You will gain expertise in using and configuring cutting-edge Atlassian tools, now used by over 500,000 organisations worldwide

Plenty of internal training opportunities will be available. There will also be opportunities to gain industry accreditations (e.g. AWS, Atlassian).

This role is likely to require non-standard working patterns (e.g. Tuesday to Saturday); specific working arrangements are flexible and can be discussed at a later time. Occasional travel within the UK may be required.

Requirements

You should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or a related field.

Essential:
• Have strong Windows and Linux skills
• Have a working knowledge of Git
• Have an understanding of SQL
• Be comfortable with at least one scripting language (shell, Node.js, Python, Ruby)

You will also have awareness and/or a basic understanding of:
• AWS (IAM, EC2, S3, PostgreSQL RDS, Lambda, Cloudwatch)
• Web server configuration (e.g. Apache, Nginx)
• Infrastructure-as-Code and tooling (e.g. Chef/Opsworks, CloudFormation, Puppet)
• Continuous Integration and associated tooling (e.g. Bamboo, Jenkins)
• Agile project management and methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
