As a Trainee Civil Engineer your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
• Measurement of earthwork quantities / surface area take-offs using 3D modelling software.
• Re-designing earthworks to minimise the environmental impact / cost, by best utilising available materials and reduce on / off movements.
• Publishing CAD drawings. Topographic surveys, As-built records, etc.
• Assisting the land surveyor in the carrying out of site surveys using terrestrial and various GNSS surveying methods.
• Processing of survey data from site for measurement / record purposes.
We are looking for someone that we would put through University part-time on a BSc (hons) Environmental Civil Engineering course, the entry requirements for which are SQA Highers: ABBB including Maths or Physics or Technological Studies, or HNC/HND qualification. So you may be a recent school leaver. Or you may be a college leaver with the above HNC/HND qualification. Or even a graduate of the degree course. Whichever route you approach from, you will be expected to be committed to working hard and being a team player.
You should be IT literate and competent in the use of Microsoft office. The candidate will be part of the commercial department where good communication is crucial so it is essential to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also have a valid driving license.
AutoCAD understanding and/or experience is desirable but training will be provided. Graduate applicants would ideally have an engineering background, college leavers might have an HND/HNC in engineering.
