Robitical has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Business Development Representative to foster international development in America. The company is on a mission to inspire the next generation of roboticists, engineers and scientists and they need a motivated individual to help them spread the message and make it happen which is what this role is all about!
A core aspect of business development is building relationships and having conversations with the right people, deeply understanding the problems they need to solve. Robotical is looking for someone to focus on understanding Elementary School teacher’s struggles and needs, and help solve them. Business development is easy when you seek to understand first without the expectation of a sale. Whatever the teacher needs, it is your job to help them get it - in this regard you don’t work for Robotical, you work for teachers and the children they serve.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Being a canvas to obtain prospect information and win new business
- Following-up phone calls to potential new clients in US elementary schools
- Building rapport and maintaining relationships with new customers
- Presenting and demonstrating the company's product to businesses
- Organising and maintaining up-to-date customer records
- Organising meetings with potential/existing customers
Robotical is a very hands-on team in which each member is encouraged to contribute and make their mark. They like fresh ideas and curiosity about how things work and might work better. As with any startup position, there will also be ad hoc administrative and operational responsibilities as the business grows. There will be a thorough training/onboarding process with the Direct Sales and Marketing Manager, Ben Henderson-Palmer, and remote assistance from the team in the UK.
This role will coincide with the new academic year and a US-focused press campaign to raise awareness of Robotical and Marty the Robot.
The Robotical team are flexible about location within the US, although the East Coast is preferable. Sales and product training will be given and the successful candidate will shadow an existing team member for a 3-week onboarding process.
A business Visa will be organised for the successful candidate.
The ideal candidate would be an outgoing and organised individual, capable of managing their own time and workload in a busy but supportive team. Robotical welcome applications from both UK or US-based candidates.

Grit - Many dials will go unanswered and the conversations will not always be positive, but having the resolve to continue attempting contact with prospects will set you apart.
Growth Mindset - The belief that you can improve your ability and performance through learning. This comes with a desire to seek learning from your manager and peers, passing the learnings on too when the opportunity presents itself to help another.
Curiosity - Having a genuine interest in the prospect and what they are saying as well as the ‘why’ behind any initial interest, questions or objections.
Self Motivation & Adaptability - This ties in well with having a growth mindset but is a point worth making on it’s own. An entrepreneurial mindset is necessary as in such a small team as you will likely be stretched to run a business within a business, not just performing sales activities but also marketing (lead generation) and likely operational activities (helping handle shipping) from time to time as well.
Self Awareness/Coachability - The ability to openly and honestly reflect on your performance with a drive to become even better every day. You’ll take advice and guidance from your manager and collaborate to solve the challenges you encounter together.

Experienced in using a CRM system (Pipedrive knowledge a plus)
Previous Edtech sales a plus
Demonstrative understanding of the US education system desirable
Willingness to travel if required
Excellent telephone manner - telesales experience useful
Ability to build relationships and an excitement in helping improve education for the next generation of paramount importance
Positive about the role of technology in creating a better world
Coding, engineering or other technical knowledge or interests are a plus
